EUROMEDSTAT is a project funded by the European Commission (DG Health and Consumer Protection).
The acronym EUROMEDSTAT means Statistics on Medicines in Europe.
The project is aimed:
- to develop indicators for monitoring price, expenditure and utilisation of medicines under a public health point of view
- to build a European database of licensed medicines.
The
EURO-MED-STAT database
provides information on licensed medicines and their price.
It also provides statistic on the number of licensed medicines across EU countries.
Moreover the database provides statistics on utilisation and expenditure according to the ATC / DDD methodology, which is suggested by WHO as a global standard.
Representatives from European Union Member States, World Health Organisation and Council of Europe participate to the project.
